Noise at shut down

Can anyone tell me what the "screech" noise is when I shut the truck off? Dealer said it was normal, but never told me why it does it. When people ask me "what was that", I just say, "I dont't know".

Again, don't worry about it, can't remember if it's the fan clutch or the belt when the fan is "engaged". They all do it.

I asked the same thing when I got my first diesel. After a while I didn't even notice it anymore. I get the same question from people, I just say it's the engine shutting down.

It's the cummins chirp. Your engine is stopping before your belt does. the cummins is high compression and stops fast and your fan belt dont stop as fast so you get the squeek.

That's not my experience at all, every new belt I've put on has squeaked right from the beginning.
Only way to get rid of it is to use a Goodyear Gatorback belt.
