Noise on Shut down 6.7

Hey all!

I'm new to Diesels and have a 6.7L.
At about13K I noticed that sometimes when I shut down there is like an electrical whine?? noise from under the hood. It's not there all the time and lasts about 15 seconds.

Any ideas?

Mine does the same thing, kinda sounds like a jet engine in the cab.. haha...

i figure it is fan noise after the motor is turned off.

The fans not turning while the noise is there.

my exhaust brake & whole truck acts weird during regen... including shut down

I doubt it has anything to do with regen as it takes place in the DPF. Also regen ends as soon as you touch the brake and put it in park. I can let it idle for minutes and sometimes I still get the noise

My 04.5 used to do that too. Sometimes it would sound like morse code instead of the humming. Very faint but noticable. Definitely something electrical, but it never caused any problems with that truck for over 330k miles. Have'nt noticed it in the 07.

Last night mine made a gurgling and air escaping kind of noise for about 15 sec after shutdown. There was also a pretty large exhaust smell. I have no idea what it was all about.

The "gurgling and air escaping" was probably the air conditioner if you shut the truck down with it running, or had just shut the air off prior to shut down.

When I shut mine off in regen the pyrometer is still pretty hot and won't cool down like it should. Maybe I'm hearing a different sound than you are but it is certainly different when I shut down while I have not been in regen. Maybe just my truck. It is also different than my last two diesels.

It shows in the pyrometer gauge. And after reading abunch on here. It idles about 100 rpms higher and has a different tone to the exhaust(What little tone there is.)

Got 11m miles on mine and never saw an indication of a regen of any kind.
No notice on the overhead , no noise of any kind , no smoke , no nothing.
Smooth all the time , hope it continues.

When I shut mine down I hear a whine and a clicking sound. I think it has to do with the fuel pump.
