Noise
??? OK another Noobie question:
Now that I've had my 99 CTD for a while, I'm getting to Know some of the moans and groans.
I have noticed a >"grinding" type noise from the passenger side of the engine compartment. I traced it over to what I think is the compressor for the air conditioning.Under the Altenator. It starts and stops with the Def. on. When it kicks on, the noise appears, then disapears when it stops.
The weather has been very wet here the past few days. Does this sound like a bearing? Am into big bucks for this? :'( Is there mabey a save?
Thanks again,
PK

Re:Noise
Does sound like the A/C compressor, as it does cycle on and off in the "defrost" position. I don't know the cost of replacement, or if there is a fix. I don't believe there is a fix, but there are others here that would have a better handle on that.
Good luck!
