Hi Guys
Bought a new to me '01 2500 4x4 5speed. this thing is really going to be a project and I need some help. I have a no buss in the odometer and none of the gauges work, I can turn my high beams on 8 or 10 times quickly and everything comes to life again but only briefly and the no buss doesn't ever leave the odometer while I'm doing this. Radio works, lights all work, A/C and heater work fine. I have scoured the past posts and searched everywhere but am still stumped. I tried all the electrical connectors I could find including the bolted connector in the fuse box, what I'm wondering is there a step by step elimination process I could go through? Any suggestions would be welcomed.

My 01 did that to me and I found one of the two plugs plugged into the back of the insturment cluster had worked it's way out after I pulled the cluster out. They are kind of held in there cheaply.

You could look there.

 

I pulled the instrument cluster out today thinking maybe that could be it, put di-electric grease on the connections and reinstalled but nothing changed.

Can I take the pcm out of this '01 and put it in my '00 to verify if it's good or bad? will they interchange?
