Lift Pump

i have installed a blue chip vp44 with 3/8 fuel lines and mounted a holley black pump (140gph, 14psi) back by the tank. also have a fuel pressure guage with a isulator on it.. the max pressure i have seen on the guage is 12psi and 4psi under full load. i have check the pressure at the vp44 with a different guage at a idle and still get 12psi.. i don't think the guage is messin with me.. question what kind of lp would be big enough
thanks

I have and OEM lift pump and I get about 15psi at idle and 9psi WOT. Seems like Ive read that anything under 5psi WOT can be bad JUJU for the VP44.

No Carter HP's for me! I watched 3 go bye bye on the pressure guage. I installed the FASS 1 pump with big line kit for 390.00 to my door.It has a 4 yr warranty too.I now have a pegged fuel guage, and can only pull it down to 17lbs. Carter that!!!

Well... some us have Walbros installed on 2nd and 3rd gen trucks. We've got anywhere from 17 to 20 PSI at idle and 15 to 13 PSI at WOT, WITH AN OPEN BYPASS. We are flowing 70 GPH through the stock lines and filter (or filters in my case), right to the injection pump inlet ! The injection pump is swimming in fuel.

If one wanted perfect pressure regulation, one could install a regulator.

Just so everyone understands, a FASS may be rated at 95 or 150 GPH, but most of it returns to the tank before it gets to the injection pump. It takes 25 PSI (or 30 PSI with 2 filters) at the lift pump to move 70 GPH past the inlet of the injection pump.

A Walbro sells for $100 almost everywhere. It is also fuel cooled and silent. I've heard FASS brushes are NOT covered under warranty.

FASS that !
