lift pump
here`s yet another lift pump problem---- I have detected a small leak where the wire enters the housing, just an occasional drip. I started looking when i noticed fuel on my starter motor......my solution to the problem is ,remove OEM pump & install ANOTHER carter 4600 on the frame ahead of my existing 4600 pusher pump . that should give me about 15 psi instead of the 22 psi i have now (15 +7= 22) the new 4600 is rated at 8 psi max pressure.....has anybody done this before?

Johnh,
Haven't done what you are proposing, but it should work. The only question I would have is how far below the 22 psi can you pull the setup you have now?
FWIW - I had a pusher pump set up like you (Carter 4600) until last week. Leaking at the wires is why I replaced the second of my 3 stock lift pumps in the past 25k miles. When the third stock lift pump started going I replaced it all with the FASS lite. We will see how that works.
Good luck,
George

Why continue to use a "defective" Carter style stock LP when a new and better one is available? The Carter pumps will just fail again.
I think you are on track, but I would not buy another Carter pump unless you like climbing under your truck. Replace the entire stock LP set up with the Fass HPFP. 4 year warranty, 600K miles at 15+PSI for $350. This new pump can be your "pusher pump" if you want to keep your stock LP also, but why?

I installed a Weldon aircraft pump 57k miles ago. After replacing 4 stock LP's (one every 35-40K mi.) and then a vp44, I looked for a ultra reliable pump that would stay there. Also installed a FP gauge after the vp44 went down. Fuel pressure stays constant at 10-12 psi WOT. Cost was $600 bones, but 4 stock pumps was $640!
