loss of power?
loss of power?
I was wondering if this is normal ? I bought my first diesel 1 week ago. Have been around them most of my life and can't get enough. Just could finally afford my own .. anyway when I am running thru the gears it seems like the truck falls on its face about 2100 to 2200 rpm pulls good till then. THe truck has 70,000 on it the previous owner had injectors installed don't know kind or how big. I have since had the silencer ring and muffler come up missing and my bhaf will be in tomm. I don't want to do anymore until I get gauges..any ideas or advice would be helpfuland thanks in advance..
PS I love this site have been on here reading and learning alot seems to be alot of knowledgeable people he and everyone seems to be very friendly. Keep up the work on a great site...

Just guessing here........
It sounds like your LP is going south and cant keep up to the higher flow?
You need a fuel pressure gauge installed after the filter to know if the LP is supplying enough fuel to the VP44. This is a very important thing to get even if you dont do any mods.

is there anyway to hook a pressure guage up temporary till I get my guages put in to see if I need to get a new lift pump put in ? and if so were does it hook in at ? thanks in advance...
There's a schraeder fitting on the side of the injection pump.
This is the connection Dodge uses (well, used to use) to do a pressure test.
You can fab up a guage with the female version of the fitting, (same size as A/C recharge kits), length of Diesel compatable tubing and a guage.
Or you can buy one, known as a Briarhopper guage.
This is the only place I know that currently still carries it.

The Briarhopper comes with enough tubing to snake it out from under the hood and tape it to the windshield (temporarily of course
) for a road test.I added a link to the place I know of that still carries it.

Well I got it checked and it was lucky to hit 3psi so I replaced it. I found that replaceing it was easier than I thought it would be. I replaced my fuel filter and put in my heat sheild for the BHAF at the same time. After everything was said and done I think I had about an hour in everything. Thanks again for everyones help.
