Idle at 1000rpm ALWAYS?
Idle at 1000rpm ALWAYS?
Hey guys, I've been having this problem with my 1999 Dodge 2500. From start to finish the truck will not idle lower than 1000rpm. This is not good when driving around the city. It's going almost 30mph w/out any throttle what so ever and I'm having to cycle it from Drive to Neutral to keep from putting too much pressure on the brakes when coming to a stop. This first started happening ever so often, then it turned into a constant problem.
There are no Check Engine lights, or anything out of the ordinary. Just a very high idle. I replaced the TPS thinking it was the problem and the problem is still occuring. Do any of you all have any insight on what the problem might be?
315,000 miles on this bad boy.

You know, I'm starting to think that might be a quick fix. I'm getting it checked by a cummins enthusiast tomorrow morning to see if I can find the problem. I'll let you know my findings. Have you had yours checked at all? Are the symptoms the same? Stuck at that idle no matter if you're parked or moving and off the throttle?
Yeah, my mechanic's mind too so I bought a brand new one and nothing happened. Still had the same problem. Disconnected the TPS and the idle didn't change at all. Connected everything back again and it's running the same. Weird problem, but something's got to be messing up...
