But Wait....There's More............
I ALSO doubles as a Tire Thumper, and an Additude Adjuster........
It can be YOUR today for the Low, Low price of $1.295 and change. (Plus $136 S&H)
Act Now.... They're Goin' FAST........

Before I got my Smarty Jr, I would start the truck, turn the cruise control on, step on the gas till about 1200 RPM and then hit the SET button. The engine would run at 1200 RPM.
Of course, shift your tranny P or neutral.

well i think it was from the privious owner,,, not sure if he had a smarty installed high idle or what... but i took it to the dealer to get a lil check up, new truck had to haul my 5th wheel and didnt have gauges on yet. they checked all my pressures and the ECU and stuff, and it never worked after that... but i HAD it!!! i found it by accident and it wasnt no -5 outside it was like 45-50

I've wondered if there isn't some way to emulate the speed sensor in order to use the cruise control buttons...from what I've read, its just a variable resistance/two wire sensor (if the cruise uses the one on the rear diff) If it's possible, it would be simpler to switch two wires than the 6(?) for the APPS mod.
I also wondered about just getting a spare sensor, since they're rather cheap, and looking into fabricating some sort of tone ring for the crank, etc...

the cruise will not work on the 2nd gen trucks. however, there is a way to simulate the smarty high idle and have manual control over it.
i saw there was a moparman1973 link . . . that should be all the info you need.
the smarty high idle kicks up when it is pretty cold, and then shuts down 3 cylinders if it is REALLY cold out.
the moparman mod gives control over this. the ONLY drawback to it is no variable idle control. just 1200.
i am about to start the wiring/soldering in the project box hopefully within the next week . . .
i have been putting it off and putting it off . . . this gives me the spark again!

i used to do the stick in the seat trick for high idle in winter and would replace apps sensors every 2 hours would end up with a skip in the sensor at the same position as it sat at high idle so use caution just my .02 cents
