Headlights shut off when going to High beam

A relay maybe?

When I switch from normal headlights to high-beam, sometimes the lights will shut off altogether. If I flip the lever a couple times they come back on.

The multi-function switch in the steering column is probably wore out. you can clean the contacts and see if that helps.

I second that notion, the multi-function switch is becoming the dys-function switch. Mine is starting to do the same thing, which is funny, for the amount of time I have ever used the high beam lights. Contacts shouldn't be worn, but whatever.

200 bucks at the local dealer for the switch, I can run low beams and driving lights for a long time.

I just sprayed a bunch of wd-40 on the contacts to clean them off and it seemed to take care of the problem for now.

Ouch
Is there a part number?
Anyone do an internet search for a cheaper version?
I guess I'll try cleaning it.

Go to your local junk yard, I had the same problem. I picked one up for 45.00 at the junk yard.

Spray electric contact cleaner on it while fliping the switch and save your money. Did it 2 years ago and no problems since then.

Autozone has new ones for like 60 bucks. I would try the local junkyard, mine has a flat rate of like $10 or so for all switches.

Glad you asked this. Mine does the same thing. How do you get to the relay?

You to take the steering column plastic off near the steering wheel to get to the Multi-function switch.
