Firestone Lifetime Alignment

Anyone have any dealings with firestones lifetime alignment? Whats the catch? It seems too good to be true since im going to put 1M miles on my truck.

Please list your experience with alignment shops...good or bad

Probably depends on the location and the competence of their employees honestly. You gotta realize that these "good for life" deals ARE to good to be true, they just don't expect 80% of the people to follow through with it. The extra money they'll make off a "lifetime alignment" will make it worthwhile to have that other 20% come back and need more work.

Also keep in mind getting you in the door is an easy way to work in "oh you need new balljoints/tierods/etc/etc/etc", so while you're getting the alignment free they will overcharge you for the other parts.

But like I already said if the mechanics at your location are competent I'd say go for it if you think you can take advantage of it.

I had Firestone do a lifetime alignment on mine a couple of months ago after the 2" level kit. Then I got on here and started reading specs to eliminate DW. I took the #s back to Firestone and they realigned the truck to my specs as part of customer care. then i just had had different tires put on this weekend and they asked about how I liked the specs. I had them put it back on the machine and take the tow out. they said they had aligned several other trucks based on my #'s and the customers were happy.
Everytime there has been no questions asked.
I will use them for oil changes and have them do a tire rotation and alignment check every other time. they showed me my ball joints being slightly worn this time. I figure its a great way to keep an eye on everything and I only paid for it once.
Wile there this time a lady came in to have her alignment re-done. tech asked her if her husband put the new ball joints in, she said yes and he said Great and took the car to the machine.
So as its been said it depends on the shop. For me it's been a no brainer.

Voted got it and its great, but used it on an AWD talon that needed a 4 wheel alignment. Haven't gotten it for my truck yet, but I'm going to as they're the only one who does it around here. Otherwise, I wouldn't go to them. My dads company car has 45k miles on it and the three times we've taken the car to them for an oil change it has come back out with over 1k dollars in work. First time being a whole front suspension over haul when it had 12k miles on it.

I had it on my Lightning, and my girl has it on her Sentra. I have not needed an alignment yet on the Dodge. It costs about what 2 alignments would normally cost. So, two alignments and it has paid for itself.

alignment on a 4x4 is easy enough to do yourself,

the only thing thngs that are adjustable are the toe and the castor. with an angle finder and a tape measure both can be set in under 15 min.
