Engine stopped dead
Hey Ed, I have to agree with you on the carter lp argument. My oem carter lasted to 200k miles and I only binned it cause the vp decided to start dying a slow painful death (painful for me that is).Maybe our road fuel is filtered better then yours? but when I dropped my tank last year to install the bigger draw straw the inside was spotless.I know I can get 40 to 50 k out of a fuel filter no problem and even at that it's still reasonably clean.
Paddy I dont know for sure, but I would almost bet the retailors over there take better care of there tanks. Like I have said also, if you get one over here that filters down to a 30 micron filter your lucky. Maybe they have some standards over there that they have to meet at the nozzle. You cant imagine what I have found in my tank! I cant belive that im reading on these forums that these guys want to draw out of a sump they put in the bottom of there tank.I know there trying to help there l/ps but there shooting thereselfs in the foot.
NM, don't forget Europe has had a much longer experience with common rail pressure engines than we have, I think some retailers here in the US still don't comprehend what the filth does to them.
Yes sir, without a doubt you right. But the sad truth is, they couldn't care less there just in the business of selling as much of it as they can, and theres a big enough market that they dont have to worry about it. IT'S THE AMERICAN WAY!
You speak the truth there Pat.I remember back when common rail was just starting to come out, there was war between the fuel companies and car manufactures because the diesel was to dirty for the oem style filters to properly clean and the cr pumps and injectors were giving unbelieveable trouble. The solution was cleaner fuel, I'll have to check but I'm gonna say it's filtered down to 5 micron.
After they pay for enough fuel injectors and engines, they will come around.
Pat I dont know who to blame, I guess I would have to look to the retailers at te end of the line. These tanks at every station is just getting loaded up with all the stuff. The fuel comming in on the trucks is probably as clean as it ever was, but over time that stuff just builds up in a big sludge pile in the bottom and every time they fill it the really fine stuff gets all mixed up with the clean fuel coming in and out.
