Engine Code
My truck show a P1693, using the code reading on the odometer. This is a Turbo Charger Circuit Malfunction. Can some one tell me what this is and what to do about it? The check engine light has not come on.
Thanks

The 1693 DTC is NOT "Turbo Charger Circuit Malfunction"!!
The 1693 DTC is what is commonly referred to as a "Companion" code. It is a DTC that has been set off by another DTC that has been stored and is not retrievable in the odometer display and requires a scanner to be retrieved. The 1693 is set to let you know there is another DTC that you can't currently view. You will have to get the truck to a scanner to see what other DTC's are present.

Thanks for the info. It does show 2 other codes P0251 and 252 which are the injector pump. These prompted the chk. engine light to come on several month ago. I have had the injector pump rebuilt. After reinstalling the pump the engine light went off. So, does this mean that these codes are just stored in memory? Can a scanner erase these codes? I'm confident the injector pump is good. Was 100%, but now I'm wondering and more like 95% sure.
Thanks

Well, to answer my own question, I took my truck to a friend of mine that has a scanner. The codes were showing on the scanner to, but he was able to clear them out. The good part is they haven't reappeared, which I was very hopeful they wouldn't.
