Cummins Problem
I just bought a truck last saturday and now i have some major problems with the motor.
It has water/meth injection on it and the switch was mounted right where by the steering wheel & my knee accidently hit the switch, I didn't realize anything was wrong until my truck stalled down the road. I tried cranking and finally pulled the intake boot off to suck clean air.
Too late, damage has already been done, I haven't had the truck a week and now i have some major issues, im really depressed about it cuz i worked so hard to be able to afford the payments on a nice truck. Now I have oil in my coolant like a milkshake and it looks like some coolant is in the oil too.
My truck is just sitting im trying to decide what to do...should i pull the whole motor and go thru it or just the head, im already sure the head gasket is blown i just am worried about the rest of the motor Im pretty new to Cummins, but have been around diesels for awhile i just dont know where to start with this because after 4 days of owning the truck it is in need of major repair. The power seems to still be pretty good, some white smoke on start up but nothing outrageous, but again I have barely driven it since i found the oil in the coolant because i dont wanna do any further damage.
I never even got on it too hard because i wanted this truck to last but i need to get it fixed as soon as i can. Im not a rich guy but want to make sure that i fix it right the first time. Help would be appreciated & if anyone is in the mid-michigan area that would be willing to give me a hand wrenching it would be much appreciated. I'd help pay for your time in whatever funds i have possible.Thanks

If you didn't drive it for long with the water in the oil there should not be anything wrong with the internals of the engine...I agree with using some kind of flush for the cooling system to clean it out. Don't see how you could kill a cummins with something so simple.

Coolant in the oil is like taking sand paper to the bearings, it will wipe them out pretty quick, depending on the time and load driven,(and how much raw coolant was in the oil) it does not matter if it was a Cummins or not, if the bearings are down to copper, it will destroy the crank/engine.... I'd be pulling the pan to check the condition of the bearings.
If the truck has been sitting for a day or two, pull the drain plug to see if any coolant comes out before the oil does, IF there is coolant in the oil, it will show up when the drain plug is pulled, if there is coolant there....drop the pan and check/replace the bearings
If you bought this from an auto dealer,Mom and Pops or whatever there is a hiden law that makes them warrenty the truck/car for 30 days.

that can show to signs of missuse or abuse and will void your warranty.

Did you check the oil before you bought the truck? just having the switch on souldn't have blown the HG. It should be wired to a hobbs switch also and it won't let it spray unless you have boost. and how big of tank is on it? my 1/2 gal. would only last a mile or less, so I'm going to bet the problem is why the guy sold you the truck in the first place.
Not only does the latent heat required to vaporize the water/methanol reduce the incoming air temperature and increase charge density. It also reduces combustion temperatures. But moreover, steam expands something like 1200 times (don't cite me on that exact number) its original volume. Thus, more PV work.
The methanol is along for the ride as it combusts with less air, prevents freezing and algae, and it has a high latent heat of vaporization, which is a cooling effect. For spark ignition I believe it reduces detonation.
