Code Question

Wife was driving, had no power and returned home, I drove and seemed fine but did throw P 1693 which I know is a companion code for the ECM, also coded ECM 0237, anybody know what that means?

Thanks for the help.

I may be wrong as I am going off memory here but I think that is a low turbocharger boost circuit or something along those lines. If that is correct check the map sensor.

MAP (manifold air pressure) sensor- as in outputing lower voltage than the ecm parameters allow. May very well be the map sensor going bad. Or if you have some type of boost fooler (edge etc) it could be going bad.

Replacing the sensor is pretty easy. Remove electrical plug from sensor, a deep well socket of the appropriate size it is along the lines of 1 1/8 unscrew, screw in new one, reconnect plug, 10 minutes work. Located on drivers side of engine towards the rear, one of only two back there the other and I think the farthest back is the IAT (intake air temp) sensor(though I may have that reversed).

The MAP sensor is the forward one, BarryG is correct.

MAP takes a 1 1/4" deep socket and gets torqed to 10 ft/lbs.
