Boost gauge

Ok, got this finnally hooked up... but I think I did it wrong. I can get readings on it but only when I stand on the go fast peddle. After I hooked it up I stuck my hand down there to make sure it wasnt leaking, but couldnt tell. I figure its probably leaking and not holding the pressure readings, so my question is how do I make it seal? Will loctite work?

You won't build any boost unless the engine has a load on it.

Even traveling down the freeway at speed? Or does it only go up when you have a heavy foot at that point?

Sounds like a leak or possibly a kink in the line. What did you hook it up to? An intake manifold bolt with one of Piers' boost adaptors works real well.

Hooked it up to a intake manifold bolt, the one right behind the fuel filter. It could be kinked, I am going to take it apart and see how it flows with air pressure from me through it. Maybe pull the hose back and forth a bit to loosen it up perhaps its pressed closed somewhere down the line. Do you seal the reducer fittings in the intake manifold?

Ok, so before my drive home today I tightened the hose up a bit at the engine and at the gauge, made sure every thing was connected correctly as best I could and all. The drive home I noticed that when I was cruzing at neutral throttle on level ground 0 boost, going up hill maintaining speed 4-5 boost (this is at 55-60 mph). If I stepped on it off the line I could see as high as 21psi but usually 20 at the most and as soon as I get off the gas it would drop to 0. Is this about right or is there a leak?
