I have read all the chat for this problem, its been real helpful. I am a new member and own a 01 h/o 6 speed mannual 2500 4x4, and having the same problem. my question is if i get the new APPS sensor does it need to be programed or is it a simple instalation I can do. and would it steal power away and fueling problems. thanx.

It's a straight foreward replacement. Remove the old one and put the new one on exactly the same way. About 20 min. if you take your time.

I don't understand your last question...............

Thanks for your reply. The last question im asking is will a bad apps sensor cause some loss in engine power or surging under a load when I pull a trailor.

Mine only had a momentary loss of power and pedal response. The rest of the time, it ran normal.

That is usually a symptom of a dying lift pump, or worse, a dying injection pump.

APPS is usually just the dead peddle, not power or surging.

throttle problems

Always have had dead pedel , low power and surging at 1100 to 1275 rpm. Just a function of the cumins engine.

Crobtex-

What exactly does the APPS look like? I took the cover off & wasn't sure exactly what I was looking at or what I needed to replace.

APPS ground is 0.003 ohms so ground is good. I suspect that the arc came from the ECM plug in that wasn't fully seted from the factory and spiked the pcm voltage control cct.

mine went out last month. Yes, mine had surging and power loss....kinda. it was just the pedal getting really touchy or hardly responding.
hope this helps.
