Any tips, things to look out for when dropping tranny?

I am puting a clutch in my '00 the next two nights and am working on a very tight schedule. My plan is to pull the tranny tommorow night, have the flywheel turned Tuesday and put everything back together Tuesday night. It has to be finished by Tuesday night so if there are any surprises that I might be in for I'd like to know about them before-hand if possible. I've never pulled a transmission in a Dodge, I'm an ex Powerstroke owner. I assume it's pretty straight forward but if there are any impossible to reach bolts or special tools needed I'd like to know now rather than when I'm halfway into it. My truck is a 2wd with a NV5600 and I'll be working under a lift. Anything unusual about pulling this tranny that I need to know about?

Use a portapower (jack) to spread the from enough to slide the crossmember out/in easier. Thats the only difficult part.

I was wondering how tight that crossmember was in there, thanks for the heads up.

yup... definitely easier to remove the crossmember with the frame spread.

Does the exhaust need to be removed to get the tranny out?

Why did my local 5 start tell me yesterday that the flywheel cannot be turned on these trucks???

Oh yeah and that a new flywheel costs $1136.

Something to do with the taper.

How many miles on your clutch Wes? Is the clutch smoked or are you just looking to upgrade?

I hope you were misinformed about the flywheel because mine needs to be turned.

As for my clutch problems. See this post.

57k on this clutch by the way.

Got it out. The only real problem was the crossmember. The BFH made short use of it though. It was pretty tight up against the floor. I'm just worried that it's going to be hard to get the tranny back in with so little wiggle room up top. I'll update tommorow night as to wether or not the flywheel could be turned.

The flywheel was turned with no problems. Whoever told tool it couldn't be turned was full of it. Now all I need to do is get everything put back together.
