I Have A 1998 Ram With A 24 Valve Mine Does Almost The Same Thing But If I Let The Throttle Up Then Hit It Down Again It Works Fine Again. Some Times In The Morning I Can Floor It And It Has No Power At All And Will Only Do 10 Kmph For 30 Seconds.how Do I Ask My Own Questions On This Site Im A Bit New.

 

Greg, you need to have the codes read on your truck, to see what the problem might be

 

Was afraid of that! P1693 (companion code) and throttle problems like you described usually = dying VP-44.

The good news is, since the truck is new to you, you have not seen it drive like a CTD should. With a new VP-44, you are in for a HP treat and a whole new truck feel!

The new rebuilts seem to be holding up very well, with no problems. Good Luck!

Go to appropriate forum and click on "New Thread" at top left. I would do as 'Blackdiesel' diesel suggests.... get codes scanned first and then ask your question!

When discussing your truck here...call it a 1998.5 model! That lets all know it's a 98 with a 24v engine, since that's the mid year they switched over from 12v's.
