24 valve conversion

I p-pumped my 24 valve and got fuel to the pump. I have been cranking on it to bleed air out but not getting any fuel. I have the first 3 lines off the injector pump and no fuel at all. Please help.

Is the shutdown solenoid functioning properly?

It should pull in with the key on, then hold in once the engine starts.

If it isn't, try disconnecting the solenoid from the shutoff bellcrank, pull the lever up by hand, crank, and see if you get fuel

The solenid is up and everything is in go besides getting fuel it of the injector pump. "And the pump is off a 12v motor that I know ran great."

How are you priming the P7100?

Are you positive the electric pump is filling the P7100?

Cranked the supply line on the pump while cranking over. I have a fierce amount of fuel coming from the electric pump. So Im positive its getting fuel. (But still not getting any fuel to return line. I have lines 1-3 off and 4-6 cracked open. Still no fuel.) What would you suggest?

You will never get fuel to the return line with that setup, the 24V operates at a very low pressure on the feed side, less than 15 PSI if I remember right, and the P7100 overflow valve doesn't crack open till at least 25-27 PSI, and at WOT you can see up to 35 PSI fuel pressure. It really does need that type of pressure to run correctly, not sure if that would also prevent it from pumping to the lines.

I would make sure I had at least 25-27 PSI at the pump while cranking before I freaked out too much, the P7100 is a very robust design, and you know it ran good before.

I got fuel in the pump and to all the injector lines but #1. Steady white smoking. Will turn over and run for a few seconds and then shut itself off. Any ideas?

What overflow valve are you using?

Hook up a fuel pressure gauge to see what pressure the pump is getting. About 17-20 psi would be a minimum for idle.

Fwiw sometimes heavy throttle is needed on the first few seconds of running to clear it up. It may make some good white smoke but should clean up after 30 sec.

Fuel pressure gauge, otherwise your just throwing darts at the wall. To say you have fuel at 5 of 6 nozzles really has very little meaning.

As already answered in other threads.

Not enough fuel pressure.
Will have white smoke, erratic idle, cylinders cutting out etc. Stock 24V lift pump can not supply enough volume at the desired pressure. Injection pump does not get filled.
