Have an 01 2500 auto .. getting these codes p0216 p0230 p0463 p1693 .. when I start the truck it runs perfectly for about 30 seconds then acts like it's starving for fuel . Turn it off then right back on runs great for another 30 seconds then back to starving for fuel ... Please any help .... Also I noticed that when truck is at idle the dome light dims then goes back and then dims again.. thanks in advance

 

P1693 Generic fault indicating a fault in the bus or PCM/ECM interface

P0230 Transfer pump circuit out of range

P0216 Fuel Injection pump Timing Malfunciton [VP44 timing code]

P0463 Fuel Level Sensor 1 High

The dimming of the light is most likely the grid heaters cycling on and off while it tries to warm up drawing down the batteries, they take a lot of amps!

Are you sure it's got fuel in it?

Check transfer pump relay and or fuse. When you very first turn
on the key can you hear the transfer pump kick on for 15 seconds?

Turn on the key, wait for 30 seconds then quickly turn to start and let the starter energize then let off with out letting it start, you should then hear the transfer pump pumping!

 

Has over half a tank of fuel and I can hear the pump kick on when I first turn the key ... Then it will start I can drive it for about 30 seconds then it starts cutting in and out if I turn it back off even if for two seconds and restart it will drive for another 30 seconds but won't run normal after 30 seconds

ThanTs. I need to get a gauge. I did what you said. U can definitely hear the pump run.

 

How old is the fuel filter?

Being there are other codes it might be best to wait for the knowledgable guys to chime in. They might want to know what your fuel pressure is though if you get a chance to check it.

 

Fuel filter is due to be changed so I'll change it in the morning and pick up a gauge ... Thanks for your help
