wow!!! checked the tailpipe

Hello, after reading this great forum I decided to see if my factory exhaust was dented above the rearend. WOW!!!! The pipe is squished to about 1/2 its normal diameter. No wonder this thing is kind of doggy right now. I am thinking of just taking the tailpipe off until I can afford a full exhaust. But my guess is the muffler (since its still original) probably doesnt flow real good either. Oh well its only money. LATER

Chop it all off and clamp a piece of 4'' flex to what's left and run it out in front of the rear wheel--you'll love it

I drilled a 1 inch hole opposite the dent, heated it and pounded it back out then welded the hole peice back in. Didn't notice any difference in preformance but I feel better about it.

If your truck is a 4x4 then you ought to see the way the crushed the pipe around the T case. Its crazy what they did to it.

Yeah, mine is like that too. So what happens when you put on a larger 4 inch exhaust?! Do the companies take this into consideration and bend them differently, or will a larger sized pipe just crush quicker?
Thanks
Brent

I installed a Cat-back 4" kit on my 93 and it fits. You just have to take your time to get it to fit right. I had a 3-4" adapter installed up by the tranny and 4" out the back end. At the time, a 4" downpipe wasn't available and I wasn't going to pay big dough to get one bent up..

Get rid of that dang muffler! You'll see better fuel mileage and mine also ran cooler just cruising down the road. Helped performance a little too. The muffler squeezes down to 2.5 inch. Eliminate all restrictions as best you can.

Um just a question. How did you install a cat-back kit on a 93? They dont have cats, did you mean a downpipe-back kit?
