Wiring Harness?

Looking to re wire my truck. Last owner took the truck to a shop that messed everything up Would be better off just re wiring the whole truck or finding all the shorts myself and fixing just those? ideas?

I was driving home today on the freeway when my cruise kicked off, speedo went to zero, radio went off and no turn signals. I knew it must have poped the fuse I replaced the crispy fusible link with, and it kept poping then as fast as I replaced them. Some hot wire is touching ground somethere. Ticks me off.

Sounds like your ignition switch is having issues (among other things).
These trucks have so much battery and alternator capacity that there is little room for error on the wiring. If we ran at 48 volts the wires would only need to be 1/4th as thick as they are now!
Good luck, I feel your pain.

I would just get a big spool of wire and start rewiring. There isn't a lot of work involved, just hopefully they didn't chop things off to close!

Good tip of advice if you're going to grab a spool and go, Label your wires somehow so you know what's what if you have to troubleshoot....makes life a whole lot easier. I install 2-way radios and EMS Lights/Sirens/etc and it helps a lot

I'm going to end up having to do a bit of wiring as well, going to try and relocate /replace that darn fuse panel with something i found from cooper bussman

http://connectorconcepts.com/product...files/RTMR.pdf

It's just a mini fuse panel but it is 4.5" X 3.5", holds 20 fuses and has a split bus bar which means you can have one side 12v hot all the time and 12v off the ignition.

Now i just need time to do it two little kids and a wife always keep me busy somehow

Here's the solution to the birds nest. Got it at Del City Wiring Products.

Here it is installed. The large stud to the right of it is a ground. The Maxi fuse (60 amp) feeds the trailer relays. The other fuse feeds the transmission cooler.

And here's the trailer "harness" I removed from the truck before I rewired it.
