Trailer wiring harness
I have two questions:
Is the factory trailer wiring harness a 6 or 7-way connector?
and
Where can I get one (preferably pre-wired) so I can splice in to the factory one and run it up into the bed?
Thanks,
Tony

Tony,

I left my seven pin in place at the bumper and spliced in for my bed connector. Didn't take long at all. Now I have both. I have a 7 to 4 pin adapter for pulling the boat which I can plug into the bumper plug. I put mine in about 8" from the rear on the left side.

It's prewired with a 7' lead, comes with all the connectors to splice into the existing! Should be a breeze! ;D

Tony

Re:Trailer wiring harness
Mine is set up like FiverBob's, spliced in below and run up through the stake pocket hole to a female socket on the left side of the bed.

My gooseneck trailer still hooks into the bumper socket and I use the 12V constant power connection in the bed to power my yellow revolving beacon on the trailer tongue when needed.

Get the bundled 7 conductor cord from a trailer supply house or big rig shop to make the section between the bed socket and the splice into the original harness. Makes for alot neater install than a bunch of individual wires running up and into the bed.

Re:Trailer wiring harness
all the wires are bundled up in I guess what looks like split loom, then about 5 inches or so hanging out the end of it... should be a clean install! Here's the pic:

Hey, that looks good. Looks like mine did, but I had to build mine. Works good and I sure like it better than trying to reach down under the fiver to hook up.
