trailer wiring harness?

trailer wiring harness?

I don t know what happened but someone before me hacked some of the trailer wiring.....Im re doing a 7 pin in the bed area. Its spiced into the receiver hitch harness just to the left of the spare.

Anyways, I have atleast 6 sources for wire colers....and they ARE ALL DIFFERENT!

I have

violet = back up lights
black
green with red stripe
gray with red stripe
blue = brakes
red
black with red stripe (large gauge wire)

NO yellow, No white

any help is appreciated

its a 98 12 v

I am pretty sure the black is ground and the red is a 12 volt feed used to run lights inside a trailer etc when the truck is off. My book is from a 95 so i doubt its the same for the rest. Easiest way is to use a test light and have someone flick lights on and off to see whats what. Once you do have it all figured out make sure you make them weather proof so you never have to look at it again.

Yea, I used the test light, all figured out. The only problem was /is my test light is a POS, but the wiring is all fixed up.
