I actually remove the arm, drill a 1/8" hole in the pin the bushing snaps over. Fit a rubber grommet on the pin, add a washer and put a cotter pin through the drilled hole.

Well that will stop the failure of the nylon bushing wont it... Not a bad idea.

As I recall the nylon bushing completely encapsulates the pin, including the blunt butt end of the pin? So the technique you describe requires that the bottom end of the nylon bushing be trimmed away (so you can fit the grommet, washer, and cotter key onto the end of the pin)?

The plastic bush was broken. ( only 22 yrs old ) dodge had a motor so I thought you can't go wrong changing a 22 yr old wiper motor. Not knowing it would take. 1 1/2 hrs to get 3 5/16 ths bolts out. Went to harbor frt the next morn and bought a bunch of funny lookin ratchets and was able to get it mounted in abt 1/2 hr or so. I did use a bar and sledge to peen in the top of the firewall as the 2 rear bolts were directly over the lip. Nightmare installation but should go another 22 yrs. thanks everybody. TC
