Question Windshield Repair ??

The 1st Gen. windshield looks to be thicker than most.

The wife's truck has about three star-bursts in the windshield, not in her line of vision.

In the year that we have had this truck, these places have not gotten worse, nor have they fixed themselves.

Has anyone used those syringe-type repair kits for fixing star-bursts ??

Is there any one brand better than the rest ??

Do they actually make the ugly spot disappear, or are they just a gimmick ??

Thanks.

if they've been there a while your probably stuck with them, but some of the glass suys (not the ones who set up the tent at K-mart) do a pretty good job. I've had some that almost disappear, and others that don't, but at least water cant get in and it may help keep the window from cracking with the temp swings over winter...

Yes, I've used the syringe setup once (on my sister-in-law's minivan). It worked pretty well, all you can see is a little dot where the center of the damage used to be. I think it was the Permatex kit.

I've never done the DIY kits, but a previous employer used the pros to do small chips (they used a burr to grind it out slightly before pressing in the goo)... had to have been a dozens on my old F350 SRW windshield!

IIRC, occasionally the sunlight hit just right and you could tell... like a blurry spot. The fleet manager swore by them, saying it was cheaper than replacing windshields.

I may try on of the DIY kits as I have one just to the left of center now...
