Where to get cheapest larger than stock downpipe????

I am wondering where to get the cheapest 3.5" or 4" downpipe. It doesnt matter which size, I just want cheap. I have searched and come up with a couple prices, but I cant find much out there.

Thanks for any help.

The cheapest is gonna be building it yourself. I think the only vendor that sells one is Rip, a 4" dp with no flange. I think Banks made a 3.5" dp.

Source a couple 90* short radius 4" elbows, foot long or so section of 4" exhaust, weld to fit and weld your 3" flange on.

I think BANK$ had a 3" downpipe with 3.5" after the muffler. I just hate the fact that a first gen 4" turbo back is $200 more than a second gen.

I want 700rwtq and there not making it easy!!!

find the local muffler shop that works on the school busses, they should have a bunch of 4 inch stuff there... in my experience if you find the right muffler shop they enjoy doing the out of the ordinary. in ny i know they were tired of working with rusted off 1 inch stuff so when i ask for a dual 3inch for my 67 mustang they were thrilled. with me supplying the mufflers they only charged like $70 and they even put in and h-pipe

All the muffler shops I've been to in Maine are ****. They wouldnt touch my Silverado at all. It took giving one guy $20 extra to just weld a flow pro muffler in place of the stocker on the 01' Tahoe. Total for that was near $150!!!

I have a welder now and am pretty good so I dont mind welding it up myself, I just dont want to spend $200-300 on bends and pipe for it to look like a$$.

What do you think about a warpspeed 2nd gen 4" kit for $260 and just modify it to work on my 1st gen? Just needs my flange welded on and a few kinks and bends to fit around the transfer case right? In theory. LOL

By the time you bought that kit and the extra bends you need to get around the t-case and for the down pipe, etc. you'd be in the hole for about as much as just getting the kit specifically for your truck and you'd have a lot less time into it. If I had known about these kits when I put my system together I would have gotten the kit. Right now I have about the same amount just into the materials, plus about a day in fabbing it all up.

I wanted to build a 5" here recently and get rid of my stacks. I got rid of them, but ended up buying a 4" kit. Wanna know what made me decide on the 4" instead of the headache of fabbing 5" all the way back..... Stomp. Stomp makes pretty darn good power right? He's got 4" back.

Go to www.bigexhaust.com. View their diesel kits/big exhaust brand. They have the cheapest 4" kits. ~$300. Order it minus the downpipe (which is 3" turbo to front of t-case) and minus the muffler. You save money on the kit and shipping. If you have a heavy/medium duty truck shop, you should see if they sell 4" elbows. I bought mine from that airflow-online site, don't know the exact address at the moment. I think they were about $20 each. You'll need two 4" short radius elbows. I bet they are cheaper locally. Also will need about 2 foot of 4" flex tubing to run between the elbows and from the bottom elbow to the front of the t-case. On the t-case pipe in the kit, it has a 4" to 3" end. Cut it off and you might be able to use it, cut/fabbed and welded of course, for the 3" flange to 4" elbow at the turbo.

On the elbows you want one to have a belled end- 4"id/4"od this will have flex tubing on each end. Then at the turbo will be a 4"od/4"od elbow.

You want me to get some pics of my setup?

i'm gettin ready to do the same thing kinda. i'm puttin a pacbrake on and it has it's own downpipe(looks to be 3"). if i can order a 4" kit without the downpipe to save money and then modify the pacbrake pipe with 4" as far up as i can get myself. should be kinda lowbuck and still work just fine. actually now that i think about it all i really need is the tailpipe over the rear axle- i can shoot a straight 4" piece from the down pipe to the tailpipe(2wd-no transfer case to go around). might get off real cheap

Thats what I did. You can order a whole kit from www.bigexhaust.com or buy it by the piece. It comes with clamps, but no hangers. You'll have to use your stock hangers or get some from the parts store and weld them up like I did. I'll get pics this weekend.

Yeah, it's pretty much a straight shot on a 2wd. You might have to use a little piece of flex at the downpipe so you can get the straight piece at the correct angle.

Thanks, thats perfect!!! I found most everything I need for $179.65. I got all but the down pipe, and I can make one of those later.
