pros and cons of slightly larger than stock injectors?
pros and cons of slightly larger than stock injectors?
If I recall from reading about here, larger injectors mean higher EGT's and more smoke. But I would like to light my 62/71/13ss earlier on lighter tunes when towing. I have not tried the regular REVO lately, because I used to get a low boost code all the time. But I think I have cured that by taking off the Q-Zilla boost fooler (which was great on a stocker or w/my Superchips).
Any tips?
Thanx.

They are gonna spool it sooner, as you said. I am in the same boat as you. I am going to do sticks one day, the question is " What Size????". I am thinking of 1.2's, 1.5's, or 1.6's, F1's of coarse. I back my timing down while towing to #3 for less timing and quicker spool. The Helix 2 didn't make much difference? I also us my Quad box with the pressure only tune on #1. It is very noticeable that the turbo spools quicker with it on. You should have an easy time controlling the EGT's with the G56. With my auto it is a little bit tricky as in when the TC locks in 4th. It takes a little right foot control to control the EGT's. If it locks up in 4th under 52 MPH and you give it to much go pedal the EGT's will rocket up to 1400 quick. I am pulling at an empty weight of 17600 truck included.
1.2's= I can run the same toon as I do now, Revo SW#7.
1.5's & 1.6's= I think I will have to back off the Revo to SW#5 or #3.

I'm running flux 2's with my 62/71/13ss.Had *** 1's with it originally. It was a big difference going to the 2's,but not saying the 1's weren't getting the job done.I am planning on twins so thats why I went larger. If I was going to continue to run this turbo as a single I think Spooler is on the right track.Stay in the 1-1.? size.I can tow my GN horse trailer with the TNT/R on 3 but you definitely have to relearn your driving habits, like keep the rpm's up and watch how heavy footed you get especially from a dead stop.
Good info, thanx guys. It really does work fine as is. I just had lots of playing/thinking time while towing over 6 hours straight while in the desert heat.
On hills, it seemed like around 2250 RPM's really kept EGT's in check. It was funny (because of my trailer tires I was going so slow-57mph, never hitting sixth gear), but it seemed that if I sped up a tad to 2250 rpm's on hill climbs, the EGT's dropped, even though I was going faster. Still only hitting low 1200's on hills, but like I said just staring at the gauges for hours & pondering stuff.

Pic up a used Quad II box and run the pressure only tune on one, it makes a difference on spooling the turbo. I have watch the RP also and it stays in check cruising down the road. Very little difference except when you give it the go pedal. I feel it is safer than the MP8 for running pressure.
Sticks should make it even better, any better for me and it will be darn near like stock.
