Edge Insight for 06 5.9l

Does anyone have an Edge Insight system on a 06 5.9l? I am looking at getting one and when I called Edge the guy was not so up on his insight if the insight......

I want to know does it monitor tran temp, boost, rail pressure? I know if you want egt you need the sensor.

If you can reply great or if you pm me or call so i can ask more questions that would be great. Thanks for your guys help.

I have the insight and love it. It plugs in under the dash and will monitor anything you program it to. It has a multitude of combinations and parameters to chose from. I purchased the EGT probe and ran it thru the firewall. I don't know how accurate it is compared to standard gauges, but it gives you a good idea of how the driveline is performing. Do a search on tapping into the exhaust manifold. I screwed mine up a bit and it doesn't fit as flush as I would have liked.

I monitor my EGT's, Tranny Temp, Rail Pressure and Boost. There are three other screens available to monitor other items. It's whatever you program it to monitor. You can watch from 1 to 7 things at once. I also like the fact you can adjust brightness and color of the display. Don't know about the other brands. This was my first and probably last gauge purchase.

Just ordered the BD Watchdog from Larry with DTR store. Spent all night looking at Edge, Quadzilla and Bullydog. Went with the Bullydog watchdog because it had just the same monitoring options plus has more options regarding driving habits.... etc

Plus it just looks ten times better that the rest. It will arrive in three days, cant wait.

Biggest thing about the Edge and Bullydog is they do not offer any options to monitor fuel pressure or transmission slip %.

That and their small displays are the biggest difference that seperates the Scout. The Bullydog display is super tiny, like a big watch.

When I talked to Larry with the DTR store he said only the Scout would monitor the rail pressure.

After talking with some local mechanics Im not worried about the rail pressure for now. Later I will add a seperate gauge just for that.

The Watchdog and Insight will monitor the fuel pressure only, to me thats good for now.

Watchdog and Insight will monitor Rail pressure on 06-07 trucks, just like the scout.

The Scout is the ONLY one that monitors fuel pressure or lift pump pressure. There is not a factory reading for this and it requires a seperate and aftermarket sensor, sort of like egt.
It an be confusing hearing rail pressure and fuel pressure but, they are both important, although fuel pressure is probably more important.

None will read Rail Pressure and only the Scout will read fuel pressure.

In the Scout, Watchdog and Insight they are 100% dependant on the data bus for all the parameters with the exception of the EGT probe and then the Scout has the ability for a FP Transducer and Turbo Timer to be hooked up to it.

So basically if it is not reported on the data bus, none of the gauges read it.
