Towing through the hot desert, what is the safest, extended, EGT?

Hello there all. Like it says. I was towing on level 5 (TNT/Smarty) from Mammoth Lakes, CA, to Castaic, CA. At one point, while cruising along, I noticed it was 107 degrees outside. My EGT's were in check the whole time (1200 or under) because I would never go over 59 mph. I could not stand going that slow speed, but before I left, I noticed all 4 of my trailer tires were total garbage, so I babied along the whole time.

What is the safest EGT to be comfy with?

Thanx.

1250* sustained all day long is my opinion.

I don't like to tow that hot, but I know I could if I need to.

I don't know for sure but have been told about 1200. Back the smarty down to #3 and you will see cooler egt's. At least I do on mine when towing.

Thanx. Good tips. I will try level 3/TNT to see what the truck does. I will be doing the same trek in about 3 weeks.

With the increased timing from the Smarty 1200* is the most I sustain while towing. I don't know where damage will occur but that is the number I feel confident at.

If your gauge is spot on...I wouldn't worry about 1350 or so all day. I don't.

I towed from Page, Arizona to Las Vegas last year with around 10,000lbs in 110 to 115 degrees and I had to watch the temp gauge the whole way. I towed at 1200 for short periods, having the Edge turned way down. The outside temp was just so hot the truck seemed to be working the whole way. When I got back home I installed the twins, with that being said I tow way too fast.
