Oil seal between PS and Vacuum pump.

I started the truck the other day just because I like to every couple days (one to hear it,,,keeps me motivated, and 2 just to keep things lubed up) but the durn thing is leaking BAD dunno if I just never noticed it, or if it's new, but on the new paint it's clear as day, the thing is RUNNING oil right out between the two pumps,,,lol, one of the few seals I didn't replace during the rebuild. Doesn't look that difficult, just seperating the PS and Vac. Pump right? Just making sure there's no surprises. Anyone know a part number? I'm sure that won't be an easy one to find at the parts store, just because of the generic listing systems they have?

Smile Seal for vac pump to PS pump

Wow! Is that great news that a seal is available for only $8. I just came from my local Dodge dealer who told me the seal was not servicable and a rebuilt vac pump would cost $2,200. I told him that he must be looking at the injection pump but he assured me that was the price of the vac pump. Needless to say, I didn't order one. I was so mad I was spit'n fire all the way home, couldn't wait to search the web for info. Was I glad to see your post. THANKS...

Smile Seal repair kit part number

I ended up finding out that Dodge has a seal kit available pt# 5140342AA (it says a Genuine Cummins part on the bag, Pt #C3389250). They still charge too much for it ($66.) but it's better than the $2,200 they quoted me for a new vac pump. The first dealer I went too didn't know anything about a seal kit. I found it searching the internet. Needless to say, I didn't order it from the first guy. The kit includes a new Viton seal, two O-rings and the vac pump mounting gasket. The O-rings are for the seal holder and the vac pump body-to-end cap.

I just went to the local snowmobile shop and bummed em out of an o-ring that fit, because it was a holiday and parts houses were closed---worked perfect--the gasket between front cover and pump was fine, pumps seperate easily with I believe 2 bolts, when you getthem apart you will see the notch where they line up
