I currently have the getrag with the NP205
From my searches it looks like you need a
1)NV4500 of course
2) and an adapter kit from AA to make it mount to the np205.
Is this all ?
Here is a link to a complete kit for about $3k
Is there a better supplier for kit?

The 4WD NV4500 mounts directly to the NP205 without any modifications other than removing the rear seal in the NV4500. This seal removal permits the coupler splines run in oil.
I bought a "kit" when I did mine. The transmission rebuilder freighted the transmission and the AA #712584 kit came as third party direct via UPS from Advance Adapters. Five years ago I ended up paying close to an extra $400 by having the trans rebuilder order it for me.

Brainstorm me, i want to hear..............
Getrag
-Not hard to rebuild
-Will take fast shifting well
-Noisy (every truck is different)
-Bearing design problems
New Ventura 4500
-Maybe same difficulty level to rebuild
-Will take fast shifts no problem
-5th gear falls

I think their are a lot more upgrades for the 4500. I think there is a kit for 5th gear, and you can get bigger input shafts from Scheids. I think they're 1 1/4" shafts. You do need a modified clutch with that shaft for obvious reasons.
Ive only got about $1400 in my swap
, i found a junk 4500 an rebuilt it then ordered my bellhouseing kit. I think there about the same on the rebuild difficulty, you dont need any speacial tools with either of them if you know a few tricks
, but i think the getrag is harder to get the shims right. i ended up paying for one of those manuals from quad 4x4 it was well worth the money. something that i thought was funny was the 4500 doesn't call for preload like the getrag does, they want u to have .002-.006 endplay instead.

Question Since I would like to run the southbend hydraulics because I will be running at least a 3600 plate load dual disk clutch I know I need the second gen bell housing to do that but is there anything else I need to do to adapt the second gen bell housing to factory motor plate? I have heard from several sources that the 1st gen hydros are heavier duty than the 2nd gen factory hydros if this true then would it be ok to run them with that heavy of a clutch?
