What does this sensor do?

Trying to track down what sensors do what on my non-ic cummins. It was transplanted into a 1994 Chevy K2500 and some things weren't hooked up if they were not required to run. I think this sensor / switch either turns the KSB off or is some sort of feedback for the intake grid heater. I could be totally wrong though so I figured I would ask here.

Thanks,
Don

The non-intercooled KSB is a heat motor that advances when cold and retards when hot. It gets 12 v when the FSS gets it, and heats up in a few minutes. My guess is the sensor is manifold temp input to the PCM to control the grid heaters.

That is there on the non-intercooled trucks, too. No idea what it does.

I don't think that first truck has a grid heater. That aftercooler would be slick for the non-IC trucks, though.

I would love to find that I/C setup for my truck. Not a lot of room ahead of the radiator, or behind for that matter. But I have a huge radiator capable of cooling down a hot blooded 6.5 Turbo. My temps next to the thermostat never get above 140.

I would agree with Mr.Martin that the sensor your asking about is the air intake temperature sensor. But the Non-IC trucks don't have a PCM....just a grid heater control box.

Anyone have a PN or could let me know where to find one of these control boxes?

Thanks,

Don

This guy I think has bought up all the remaining NOS ones over the last 3-4 years, and is now charging a fortune for them.

Go to E-bay auction # 390142964996 to check it out. (not allowed E-bay links on the board. )

You could also try, Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to see if anyone has one in a junkyard somewhere.
