I use digital and take the images in color then convert them in Photoshop. I get better control over the end result that way. I too like black and white images. B&W portraits can be much better than color IMHO. also like the ones with the subject not looking directly at the lens.

There are still a quite a few large format photographers that use film. I think it is a Ansel Adams type of thing for them.

Hope you don' mind me playing with your image, Mark. This is about the best IMHO that I could do with out getting too complicated. It is a tritone Black, blue and pantone (light off grey) If I went much farther I lost detail. I am a big fan of dark brooding clouds.
it is a little darker on my editing computer.

Mark, that is cool. I like how the sun shining on the island is highlighted. I have shown this pic to a few people here and they all want a copy of it. The Gal that owns a store that I go to wants to blow it up and frame it. It just shows that even a blind squirrel finds an acorn every once in a while ...Mark

That is a nice image. Being in the right spot is often tough. the lighting is great. Makes me think of all the things I miss.

Today I finally started my king pins and steering linkages. King pins werent too bad to my surprise and they both broke loose easily. Also, cleaned up the rust off the knuckles and painted them. Will need new front pads. Apparently driving without rear brakes for a few years wore them down pretty fast lol.

Yeah, they were about 50 miles from the house. That is the only thing I miss.
The first one is across a little valley that burned a couple years before the shot. At first I didn't think It would be very good but it came out pretty nice.
The second one is about 2000 feet above the American river at Mosquito Ridge.

Yup, quite a bit of difference in the terrain between Oklahoma and Central-Northern California, at least you're not in Kansas (just kidding for you Kansans') ...Mark

Eastern KS, is like eastern, OK where Mknittle is, is not to bad. Lots of rolling hills and green grass. That's where I grew up. Western KS is flat as flat can be. Nothing but a wheat field on the left, wheat field on the right, blacktop ahead and blacktop behind for hundreds of miles.

I am sure that that is true, but when myself and three other firefighters went on an 8300 mile motorcycle trip around the country, we took all back roads, except through Kansas. It was all interstate until we got to Missouri, then back to back roads. Probably not too fair to Kansas...Mark

Washed the old girl for the first time in years. Moss and algae were taking over

Put on trim rings and hubcaps too.

During Friday's trip to Murrieta an electrical problem caused the little 1 amp fuse in my GPS to pop. On the way today to get a fuse and some groceries I tried to adjust the mirror and that came unstuck from the windshield for the 3rd time.

While gluing the mirror back on I replaced the fuse and at least the GPS works again.

Just like Rosanne Rosanadana used to say...

Is it ok to paint machined surfaces on the knuckle, caliper bracket and spindle? I was wondering if these parts need to have bare metal to metal contact. It doesn't appear that they were ever painted in those areas. These parts got really rusted on my truck. The passenger side splash shield is barely salvageable.
