wait to start troubles

wait to start troubles

i just bought a 1991 dodge W350 cummins automatic. when i bought it the wait to start light didnt work. i checked the bulb and it was blown so i replaced it and now the light wont turn off it stays on until it fires up then starts blinking it never goes out. the truck always fires right up. any sugestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks Bryan

My 89 did that when the intake air temp sensor got wet connections. Pull the plug on the sensor and give it a shot of WD-40 or similar lube. Also there are 2 harness connectors at the firewall to the engine right above the intake manifold that get a shot of water when you open the hood. Pull them and give them the same treatment.

thanks, i tried that this morning and it still does the same thing. do you think i could be the air temp sensor?

On a non-intercooled truck, if the temp sensor circuit is an open circuit, the WTS light will flash. Check the sensor with an ohmmeter to see if the sensor is open.
