Vacuum gauge question & part identifying

Afternoon gents ... plugging around on the break issues on my 92 CTD and I decide to check the vacuum ... (the actuator on vent/floor/defrost will not switch when a different selection is made ... only blows on vent unless you physically move the rods behind glovebox) ... so I'm wrestling with a hose clamp and of course snap off the 26 year old plastic nipple

So can anyone help identify this part ... located on drivers side fender well right beside hood hinge ... small round canister with a 3 prong electrical plug and 1 plastic nipple in the center... the vacuum line runs from booster down to this little canister

Also the FSM says that vacuum at idle is like 8 - ?? Hg

My gauge is new out of the box yesterday and she ran up to 23 Hg and held steady ... my break pedal is really soft on first pump ... firms up a bit with 2 or 3 pumps and then slowly falls away to near nothing... truck stops though

Sorry if this post seems choppy or miscombobulated ...

That is a vacuum switch that turns on the brake light or anti lock light (I don't remember which)on the dash when vacuum is low. I don't know if they are still available, but you might be able to glue the nipple back on...Mark

IIRC it is just for the light.

That is to turn on the brake light on the dash to let you know it is not making vacuum anymore, or there is a break in the system.
If the glue doesn't work I have a few units on the shelf that don't have the nipple broken off.
I am not sure NAPA can help with that part.
