turbo upgrade
I been researching turbos searching on our website and one post I read said upgrading to some turbos would require modifications to the exhaust connection. Ive been planning to upgrade to the Diamond Eye 4"
I do a lot of towing loads from 5k to 14k lbs and would like to upgrade my stock engine to somewhere between 300 - 400 hp. I'm assuming I'll have to upgrade the turbo among other things and if its going to change my exhaust connection I might as well do the turbo before I install the new exhaust system. Can I get recommendations on a turbo for this application and any other advice I would need to accomplish these goals?

HE351CW off an 04.5 to 07 5.9 cummins. They are bigger than your stock turbo and spool much quicker. They have a true 4" outlet so just get a 3rd gen 4" downpipe, chop the flange off of it, then chop the flange of the 4" diamond eye downpipe and weld the 3rd gen downpipe flange onto the diamond eye downpipe. V-Band Clamp it on to the turbo and your good to go. Worked great for me.

I appreciate the info on that, yeah I've been leaning toward that turbo from the positive reviews I've seen. I didn't know it had a true 4" outlet so that is great because I had reservations about connecting a new 4" exhaust system to my HC1's scaled down outlet. Will this turbo's mount bolt up or do I have to modify it? Would the best way to weld the 3rd gen flange be to install the exhaust system, clamp the flange to the turbo, tack it and then take it out and weld it? Is this a gated turbo?

The downsides are:
-Need different flange for exhaust
-need to rework the pass. side IC piping as the compressor outlet is in a tad different place and size.
-trying to find the elusive he351cw!
Thats all i have found so far with my install.
See the last few pages of my build if you like, its still ongoing.

Thats how I did it, tack it installed or the way it fits best then pulled it out and welded it up. I'm sure you can find a full 3rd gen downpipe for free or cheaper than that flange, but if not then you could spend the coin on that flange, but I would definately check around for a downpipe first.
