my friend is looking at buying a 91.5 to 93 dodge d350 4x4
it has no transfer case in it but but it still drives cause someone hooked the drive shaft back up with no transfer case and im trying to figure out what transmission is in this truck its not a getrag and its not original to the truck it has low 1 2 3 od and a pto cover on passenger side not sure if there was one on driver side

and im pretty sure its a 2wd tranny unless someone took a 4wd tranny and put a 2wd tailhousing if that's even possible idk im just trying to figure out what tranny it is

NV4500 most likely. and the tail housings are swappable with the right parts.
Sounds sketchy to me though.

D-350s ARE 2wd
W-350s ARE 4x4

So if it IS a D-350 it should NOT have a T-case

'91.5-'93 D-350s came with an overdrive A-518 auto transmission.
Sounds like that is what your looking at

Sorry I meant it is a w350 I have a d250 so I'm used to saying d but I never could figure out what tranny someone stuffed in there they took the transfer case,out and put a 2wd 5 speed in it has low 1 2 3 od.

Well, unless they did the conversion bellhousing or switched over to a complete 2nd gen setup, I think it about has to be a Getrag, just a 2WD version.

Can you get us a reasonably clear picture of it?

Yeah hard to tell from a description. A pic will nail it down for you exactly.

Not a lot of different trannies available for the cummins. It has to be an A518, or a 47RH/RE, or a Getrag, NV4500, NV5600, or maybe a G56? But since those last two are 6 speeds I doubt it.
