towing mirrors

gone
well, I finally destroyed my entire passenger-side mirror on my garage door frame yesterday. in the past I was slowly destroying just the chromed-plastic housing, but now it needs total replacement. what after-market towing mirror brands do you folks favor? Since I’m the only one who drives my rig, I don’t mind adjusting the mirrors manually...

Aftermarket 1st gen tow mirrors?...I am all ears.

I have seen a few people retro fit 2nd and 3rd gen mirrors, but they look off and usually make the triangular windows un-useable. Which doesn't work for me.

Or I have seen the 1st gen west coast style mirrors, but if you are hitting your mirrors on the door frame now, I bet west coast mirrors will make it so your truck doesn't even fit in the garage anymore.

since I've already ruined the stock mirror, please make suggestions about EXTENDABLE tow mirrors (or mirrors that fold alongside the door)

My Ford buddy swears by these.. although I don't care for them at all. Might be an idea?

U2slow,
I have those exact mirrors on my '91.0 Poncho. I can not say I love them. I would prefer the mirrors Sortie was already running.

I have that problem with standard mirrors at Sonic Drive-in. Now I don't go to Sonic anymore. I have a 2 car garage but half of it is full of equipment and the other half is the wife's car. I get to work on the truck while she's working for a living.

I've seen replacement mirrors at JC Whitney. Rock Auto might have them. JC WHitney has both regular and remote control mirrors.

FYI those repro mirrors will start rusting badly within a year.

You could go with a mix up tow mirror like I did....

A friend of mine had a mirror that looked stock and went in the stock mount on the door, but would slide out on the horizontal part of the tube for towing . . . That seems to be what you are looking for, but I have never seen one for sale.

You could just buy a replacement mirror glass (even from Amazon) and stick it on what you have left of the stock unit? Or were you looking at this as a good excuse to try to upgrade?

It's my pot and I'll stir it if I want to. If you're not careful, I'll stir your's as well!

https://www.1aauto.com/ has a good variety of mirrors. Perhaps something they stock will suit your needs?

Sortie,
I am sure I can find a power mirror for you to grab, when you pick up some interior pieces.
You can check out a few different Dodge mirror set ups I have on my trucks, but the one you are currently running is my favorite style.

I have a mirror just like that on my 01 except I got it in the Walmart parking lot while I was in buying motor oil.

What ever happened to the GOOD West coast Jr mirrors. The ones I've seen lately are pretty poor.

Amazon Amazon

I'm running these generic cheapy mirrors on my D150. I replaced the plastic mirror housing with some milspec units I had but they're still pretty shaky at highway speeds. Get what you pay for i guess. I wouldn't recommend them.
