Not to call you out but it may weigh 10,500 with 3 horses but no way that much empty... But to answer your question get a pyro and moniter it like a hawk... I just towed 16k from st Pete fl to Skagway ak and did just fine...

What kinda temps are we talking?

If you want it cooler, it needs less fuel or more air.

Be it getting out of the throttle, backing out the fuel screw, or tossing that Denny T fuel pin in the glove box for less fuel.

OR, a 4 inch exhaust, lose the muffler, BHAF, bigger turbo ETC for more air.

Let the heat out. HX40 and 4" exhaust. The stage 1 pin is fine, if it where a stage 2 I'd say toss it. Have your stock injectors reworked and flow honed up. Add WM for additional cooling.

Comeon... Scale tickets.... Let's see them! At 10,500 empty with tandom 5200lb axles you are already over weight for the axles.... Not to mention the 3-4klbs of horse your putting in there.

I you are still running the stock exhaust then that has to go ASAP! There is a nasty kink in the pipe where it goes over the rear axle that really chokes things down. Get 4" system in there and see how it is.

How much did you bump the timing? On my old '92 I bumped it too much and had overheating problems with just a camper on.

Your 100% correct... But your not going to find them on a 3 horse trailer... That's stuff you find on trailers with dual tires.

My last GN had 7.5K axles with single wheels. I bought it for that reason, it was the most GVW I could get in a tandem, non-dually trailer.

My current equipment trailer has 7K axles with tandem/singles. Most 7K axles are single.

I stand corrected on the axles.

I've been searching and the heaviest horse trailer I've seen yet was a 4horse with tack and quarters at just over 6klbs

Here is a 3H w/LQ trailer with 8K single/tandem axles. Note the "G" rated tires.

Like others said, time to turn the fuel screw back to stock and take your time, or get 4" exhaust , powerstroke intercooler, Bhaf, towing twins etc. I find that higher RPM gives less EGT than lugging it.
