anybody come across any good links for making your own set up? or does anybody have any great ideas they've come up with? what kind of airbags should i use? where would the cheapest place to get them be? what's the coolest set up you've seen? thanks.

that way i don't have to straighten the frame. just adjust it out with the cross brace.

To answer your question on that forum:
Yes, it is ok to weld on axle tubes. just take all the weight off of the axle. As in have it removed and sitting on a table or jack stands. You can tack weld stuff with it in place. That and be conscience of the location of inner seals and such, you don't really want to be welding with in a few inches of seals, unless you plan on replacing them.

I've done a few bag set-ups. I assume this is on a 4X4. I have only done 2wd however lots of info is out there for both. A great read and well worth adding to ones collection is a text called Chassis Engineering by Herb Adams available here:

I have or had a step by step guide to doing a full front and rear 4-link suspension. It has angles needed and info about steering geometry. I'll try to find it and let you know.

I am going to put an air ride on my 96 by removing the springs and replacing them with 2 pieces of 4" Chanel welded to make a box 4"x3". Putting a spring bushing in one end mount it where the front of the spring went and to the axle then make it drop down to axle hight behind the axle and then turn straight back and make a mount for the bag. Will also have to have a large pan hard bar. It is the same as a Peterbuilt air spring set up. I did some looking and found that Air Lift sells a kit just like the one I am going to build but it is only for 3rd gen trucks look under Past Projects for the Road Tamer. Guess I'm not the only one that had the same thought. I will use a set of KW bags I found for better load handling and better ride. With the small bags most makers suggest using air tanks for expansion tank to make it ride smother.

If it is highway only and you don't need articulation for offroad a two link with a panhard will work fine.

If you need beter flex look into a 3 or 4 link setup.
