Question about my BOMBs

When I did my AFC, Fuel Pin, and 3200 Gov spring, I wrote down the position of the throttle shaft. When i got it all back together, something aint 100% right now. Truck runs great, yada yada.

However, with my idle set properly, The fuel screw cant be brought in much, or my idle takes off. However my fuel screw is actually farther back than before I started. So Im guessing that I have the throttle shaft misaligned(Thanks for the info Dave ) However after playing with it, im still not sure.

Is there anyway to "start from scratch" with the shaft position? With the setup now, it runs good and all, but I dont have much more smoke than before I ground the Foot off(due to fuel screw backed way out)

Any info is appreciated. Starwheel is backed all way up, and Smoke screw is backed out also(should I run them back in?)

Did you move it back a tooth like I suggested?

Starwheel backed way up equals less smoke before boost. Not all pumps are created equal. You are on the 2nd index mark? That is the 'start from scratch' mark.

Actually I was right in the middle 2 up, 2 down.

Dave, yes I did adjust the arm back 1 tooth, but then the Linkage broke(stupid plastic) and I havent tried it yet.

Maybe it was me, operator error, it looked 2 up 2 down, but ill try it tomorrow and see if that makes a difference.

With an unmodified 366 spring, I don't see why'd you put the lever on anything other than stock position. When you start playing with long and short springs, then thats when you move positions. Moving it one way or the other moves the control arm inside the pump one way or the other, allowing more or less adjustment of the fuel screw before runaway.

So from Dave's PM and your posting, Since I did 2 up 2 down, I want the throttle shaft to stay put, and reclock the throttle lever towards the front of the truck?

I haven't had a throttle lever off for awhile, so without looking at it, I'm not exactly sure. Moving the lever one tooth ccw- towards the front of the truck, you're idle will drop, control arm will move back and allow you to increase fuel delivery- thread in the fuel screw more without runaway. How's that sound lol?

That sounds perfect, so I know I was off a tooth, and have it set back now. Maybe i run some wire around the bracket and the IP so I can test her out. I know I turned the fuel screw in almost 2 turns from where it was, and the 1st time I fired it up, it "ran away" Luckily we were ready and shut her right back down.

It took backing the idle screw all way out, and the main fuel screw out about 3 turns to get her to idle good. Power is great but I think there is more in there somewhere. Plus I got my other Banjo Bolt today, so that will keep me busy tomorrow. I can already see my Fuel Pressure, pre-filter dropping almost to 0...better get that pump ordered asap.

Will the smoke screw overload me on smoke when I get the main screw cranked in properly?

With the AFC ground, the smoke screw is now the least of your worries Draw it up flush with the inside of the housing, tighten the locknut and forget it's there.
