Throttle Position Sensor
Throttle Position Sensor
Hello, I am new hear. I have been working on diesels as a small hobby for a little while. I am definetly a novice, when it comes to the total works of the injection pump but most everything else I am alright at. Well I have a question regarding the throttle position sensor. I just changed it in my 1993 Dodge 5.9. It shifts alot better with a tranny flush and change also. But now I am losing power on heavy acceleration. I changed my filter tonight and after a huge acceleration difference soon it bogged way down again and I had to limp home, only to return to power when entering the drive way. Most of the bogging down I've noticed comes after reaching 60MPH before that it seems to scream and shift better. I just put in a new electric lift pump a spendy one so i don't feel like checking that yet. And also I have converted the truck to run on Vegetable oil. 8000miles so far on veggie. I have also converted about 10 other diesels to run on veggie, and all are doing fine. I just don't have manuals or knowledge on the throttle position sensor and whether it could make my truck do what it is doing. I will check fuel pressure and look for air leaks, but I am looking for other suggestions. Help anyone?
Welcome!! It does sound like your O/D may be dropping out, my truck felt like it was hitting a 100mph headwind when it would drop from 4th to 3rd. Fill out your sig and let us know any other work /maintenacne you have done.
Sounds like a plugged fuel filter. Do yourself a favor and put a fuel pressure gauge after the filter if you're going to be running veggie oil through the thing. That way you'll have a little warning before it plugs up and you're broke down.
