Throttle linkage rod
Throttle linkage rod
Does anyone know of a good place to get the throttle linkage rod (cummins #4089076) that is in the sticky. I know dodge has it, but I think it should be cheaper elsewhere. Thanks for the help.
the set i picked up from dodge had 2 ends and the "ball studs" with lock nuts, everyhting but the rod, i think i only paid like $10. the only problem was that neither of the ends were reverse threaded so i had to make a rod for it. i believe they are 6x1.00 metric thread, i took two bolts and welded the heads together. the bolts don't even need to be perfectly straight though it looks better.
I broke mine
and was quite worried about it then I called down to my local dealer and they got me one for around $20 and the nice part is that the cup ends are now metal insted of the cheap plastic that came stock. Also its a factory part so it has both the right and left hand threads on it. It worked great and only took 1 day to arrive

Throttle linkage kit.
I bought the part number you have referenced for less than 30.00 a year or so ago. It has the everything yoou need. Call the nearest cummins parts house near you and get the kit. You can't go wrong. Give cummins your cpl and serial number and you will get the right parts.

Here is what I did.
Here is what I replaced the plastic ball and socket joints with, spherical rod ends or Heim joints.
I got them at my local Specialty Fastener Supply House; I bought both the Right and Left hand thread in metric pitch so I could reuse my original adjustable rod.
I removed the bellcrank and using a die grinder I removed the staked on ball, I then made the studs using metric bolts through the existing holes, on the pump I put the bolt on the arm and then a regular nut then the Heim joint onto the bolt followed by a nylock nut.
On the bellcrank end the bolt goes the other way with the nylock on the outside.
Nice thing about these joints is that they are self-aligning and when they are snugged down, there is absolutely no play between the two.

Does anyone happen to know the specs (as far as thread size and other materials needed) to use the original rod but put put the new ends on to fix the throttle linkage. Looks to me like that is a really nice fix, but I don't know if I can find the parts in this town, may have to order them. Thanks.
I called the local cummins dealership, they said the rod would be around $30 plus $10-15 for shipping, so I am still trying to find the stuff to fix mine, or build a replacement. Seems like this is pretty common, if I find the specs I will try and let everyone know, could be helpful to some other folks.
