I am trying to get my motor on tdc to remove the injector pump. There is a pin under the pump that I am told will push in when it is on tdc.I have been unable to do do this.Is there something I am doing wrong?

Welcome to DTR! As long as you don't rotate the engine over while the pump is out, there;s no need to find TDC---the pump is on a keyway, so just line it up the same way going back in and you're good to go!
here's a link to the "sticky" in case you need TDC #1 for something else. ...<http://dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/valve_adj/12_valve.html>. ...and I add my welcome to the forum. I'm a newby here myself but find it a real treasury of good specific tech info and lots of practical advice from the old dogs.

and you will find some pics I posted showing how to find TDC with front of engine off
Make sure you loosen the shaft lock bolt, pull out the washer and re tighten the bolt to lock the shaft. If you don't do this the pump shaft will turn once it's out of the keyway and make life more difficult to reinstall the pump.
There really is no need to set the engine at TDC or even lock the pump. I find it easiest to pull the pump when the keyway is at 12 or 1 o'clock. If you set it at TDC its somewhere around 5-6 o'clock. Its all fun and games till the halfmoon key falls out of the pump and you need to pull the timing case cover to find it....
The hardest part is reinstalling the pump and the pump gear is moving. It takes a concerted effort to get the halfmoon key into the pump gear. Don't force the nut in an attempt to pull the pump shaft into the gear as you will probably only destroy the halfmoon key and then need to get another. The nut should turn easily as you tighten it down.

If you clean up the shaft and key then use green loctite, the bearing retainer stuff, it'll keep the key from falling out or moving around on reinstall. You don't have to lock the pump shaft, but it makes it a lot easier as the pump maybe right on the high-side of the cam and it's roll over when pulled free of the key.
