TDC Timing pin insert

Trying to rotate the engine until the timing pin will fall in with one person is about impossible. I've been laying on the ground turning the crank then getting up and seeing if the pin will fall in.... back and forth back and forth.... any easier methods for TDC when adjusting vavles than this? Man this sucks.

Re:TDC Timing pin insert

Take a long 1/2" ratchet and turn the engine by using the alternator nut. With your right hand reach under the pump and put pressure on the TDC pin while turning the alternator nut with your left.

Re:TDC Timing pin insert

you'll only be able to turn the alternator nut counterclockwise which is reverse order for the motor. so pay attention the valves. some say that the pin is way off, some say that it's perfect. i used the valve method to find TDC.

Tom

I use a open-end wrench on the fan nut it is closer to the pin.
Bruce
