Post Tailgate down?

Found this in the glove box.

I was cleaning out my truck tonight so I can take it to the body shop this morning and I ran across this sticker in the glove compartment.

If this doesn’t prove these are a real commercial truck.

Remembering back to the thread about what the identification lights were for, this is stating you cannot even drive it if the tailgate is down.

Wow

Why do they call it a glove compartment?
Who has gloves that big?
It should have been called a Junk Compartment.

It must be a leftover from across the pond when little men drove a Lorry and wore gloves and didn’t want to stow them in the Boot so they made a little box for them.

I cannot believe how much STUFF I have accumulated in my truck since my last accident. it took 6 hours to remove it all from the back and cab.

With all of the weight out of her it is going to fly. I might even get better mileage, you think?
Jim

Cool pic! When someone's working with me I'll say 'just grab a pair of gloves'. Invariably they ask where the gloves are and usually have to take a moment when I say 'why, in the glove box, of course!'

The ID lights are only needed on the duallys, due to width.

^^^true, but there was a thread not too long ago on tdr about pulling a trailer over 80" wide with a single wheel 1 ton. General consensus was since your rig is now extra wide, and rated at 1 ton, you need cab lights and the gang 3 on the tailgate.

Speaking of odd stickers, my buddy and I once bought a 1990 D350 drw for parts (we drove it home and started cutting it up ). This truck had a regular dually bed, but also had the cab and chassis mirrors. There was a sticker inside it somewhere that said it had been manufactured without mirrors and needed them before it could be DOT compliant.

Yup, I have that sticker in my pickup, too.

Rumblefish- what do you mean by the "cab-n-chassis" mirrors?

what i thought was weird is that in the manual it says SRW trucks tailgates can be removed and DRW trucks tailgates cant, must have to do with that sticker.

YEAH, genuine real mirrors, and none of that "things ain't what they appear to be" junk.

The ID lights are on the tailgate. The wiring harness has to be disconnected and cut free of its mountings to remove the tailgate.

The dually bed I put on my D250 when I converted had a rivet in the end of the sleeve of the tailgate to prevent you from removing it wihtout really thinking it through. Nothing a drill couldn't fix. I mounted gang three lights under the tailgate on my crew. I got some that were a bit smaller than the truck-lite that came on them. I don't know why the factory couldn't have done this.

One of my old friends had a 85 w350 SRW with those huge towing mirrors, and it was all factory. You have to be careful with those cause they are a huge blind spot. It was a cool truck but my diesel is better
