Having more of the power make it to the rear wheels, rather than lost in slippage and heat in the auto trans, makes the truck faster, and more fun to drive. IMHO
That is coming from a guy who has swapped almost every auto Dodge [car or truck] I have owned to manual though.
I almost always buy a manual to save myself the hassle, but sometimes I find the right rig, with and auto in it.
Like my '70 Challenger from TX got swapped from 727 auto to a 5 speed...now if I can ever afford to finish painting it....
