Stock boost numbers?

Did a search mine seems low. The truck, 1992 3/4 ton, 216,000 miles, auto tranny, completely stock other then a straight pipe. Installed a boost, pyro, tranny temp gauge. The EGT's are no higher then 900 degrees wot. The boost is only hitting a max of 14psi. I have not checked the ductwork for holes yet. I wanted to verify that this is a low number. What do you guys think?

That's a great number for a stock '92. They run 12 - 14 psi.

I would say that 14 is good........checking hoses and intecooler wouldn't be a bad idea, but like i said before 14 would be in the normal range.

Why do they run so low?

I thought my 18 PSI was bad?

Remember, a '92 has the lag-pig 21cm housing. Add the itty-bityy i/c injectors, a stock pump and an automatic that won't load the engine very hard and 14psi is about all that can be expected

Bringing this back from the dead....

I just got gauges and here are some base line numbers I got today running the truck hard.

'92, w250, 33" BFG AT, A518, 21cm housing (ugh)
Mods - BONE STOCK, 280K+
Load - Empty
Throttle - WOT
Pyro - 1080 F slightly uphill (1020 F on flat ground)
Boost - 15.5 psi
Tranny temp - 180 F
Ambient Air - 45 F

So I guess its pretty much inline with what you other guess are getting. I was concerned that it might be a bit low.

My old '92 bone stock H1C/21cm with only a BHAF and straightpiped stock exhaust was seeing 20psi. With each upgrade came more boost until I reached 46psi with only an HX35/40 Hybrid-16cm2, 4" straight pipe & downpipe, POD's, fuel pin & pump tweaks.

I initially saw 14 max, stock. Now see 30 max. No idea where that came from. Looks like a small twist of the full power screw, 366 pring, intake and exhaust did alot for me.

I am getting 15 psi and about 900* egt's. If I catch it just right my truck will actually get up and go.

My stock 92 was at 14 @ 6000' before I started messing with it. Non-intercooled trucks should be around 21 stock. They had bigger injectors, 18.5 housing and without the intercooler would make more boost due to the hot intake charge. I once bypassed my intercooler with a pipe and boost went up 3 psi but truck made a lot more smoke and had noticebly less power.

My truck would get 25 PSI before I did anything to the pump and I thought that was bad.
But it could be the Ram Air helping.
